First showings of new 2008/9 pages and more beaded Christmas Cards
Well, I will begin with the beaded Christmas cards. In the end I didn’t managed to get all the cards done, as I was being way too ambitious but at least I got the ones I wanted to give out, done, which was about 20 all together. Here are 4 more to the ones I have shown:
As can be imagined, these took up most of my December and then holidays came along, so not much progress has been made with 2008/BJP. Then with my daughter moving back home for a while as she looks for her lst graduate job, I had to move my stuff into the games room. So it has taken awhile to get use to my new space but I am getting there. This time I am there to stay!
However, whilst looking for Christmas gifts I had a sudden inspiration on how to present these pages (hopefully 52 in total by the end of the year) Basically they are based on the notion of prayer flags which is a buddhist tradition from Tibet. But it also can linked into the idea of prayer beads which are common in many religions. As I see it, beading for me (or creating) is really my way of mediating and my notes from the WeightWatcher meetings are way for me to concentrate on the ideas of WW rather than the notion I am dieting, so they have become my mantras.
To be honest, I have been struggling with this project but I realise it partly to do with what these notes are about, my struggle to eat healthily and figure out why I sabotage my own efforts in this area. Without a committment to the program, I couldn’t commit myself to this project. Having just gone up to my highest weight in 2 yrs, I am now even more determined to get back on track. Hopefully working on these pages will be rosary to success!

I think the best pages are those that make us think, struggle with ideas, and take some sort of action. This is a great page! Good luck.

WOW, Jacqui!!!! I totally get your pages and your idea that they are like Tibetan prayer flags. Awesome! I’m in WW too, only we don’t have any meetings on the island so I do it on line. I’ve been slacking for 3 months now (after shedding 32 lbs.)… I’ve probably gained 5 back. I hope your work will rub off on me, and I totally agree with Brenda’s comment. Not sure I understand about 52 pages… that would be one per week… Is that your plan?
The cards are really beautiful… I’m sure they are cherished by those who receive them.

I love your pages, I too have shed pounds (75) and still working on it. Like Robin, the last few months have been difficult. I love that you are focusing on this and I’m sure that it will help you with your progress. Good luck,

This is a wonderful idea and I hope it is helping you. You are very ambitious! It truly is the same as journaling, but by using the beads I think it will be very helpful and instill your goal. I am a WW drop-out and not back at the place where I want to go back. Maybe I found you for a reason! Welcome to Fiber Arts. Linda

Jacqui,
Thanks for dropping by over at my site! I appreciate the compliment! It made me blush & realize I really need to get busy on my art!
I am so impressed with your ambition! Wow! We love to make our holiday cards too, but we’ve never done anything like you did! Holy cow!
And I love the Tibetan flag idea! You are very creative & talented.
I haven’t ever done WW, but I need to do something! I’ve never weighed so much! The heat down here really makes me lethargic. But all of our attempts will pay off in better health! Keep going, sweetie! You’ll make it!
Warmest aloha,
CC

Jacqui, these are just wonderful! Sometimes I find that posting about my goals actually helps me stay on-track … thinking that other people will be wondering how I’m doing, LOL! Your determination in making your lovely little Christmas cards are an inspiration to me.
